Alden Ford
Line Cook / Baker
Alden was born and raised in rural Alaska, which gave him plenty of time to develop his love of cooking and baking without the distraction of civilization. He moved to New York in 2004 and has lived on City Island since 2019 with his spouse and three children. When he's not cooking, eating or chasing kids around, he's a director and performer in the TV and film industry.
Loren Borruso
Front of House
On the job since 2018 ~ Joe Ezell introduced her to Anne ~ Loren finds the best parts of her work ~ the people, the view. In the food area, the hanger steak gets high marks, and, from the catering menu, she's partial to the tuna and salmon dishes. A lover of cats ~ her spirit animal, she says ~ she feeds and hangs with her furry friends outside the Harlem Yacht Club.
Jack Green
Front of House
Starting in 2016 working with Anne at the Harlem Yacht Club, Jack started as a bus boy, and then became a waiter. The familiar faces at the Club include his family ~ a definite plus in the job. Although admittedly not a salad person, Jack favors the grilled chicken avocado salad on the menu. A fascinating fact? Jack studied abroad during his college time ~ in Russia!
Joe Ezell
Front of House
On the team since 2017, Joe loves the people aspect of the job: the team he works with and the people he meets. His favorite food on the menu? His own creation, of course, the "Joe Boy" sandwich: fried cod with bacon, picked jalapeño, tartar sauce and slaw on Balthazar baguette. His fun fact? He was the spelling bee champ in 1994!
Grover Gongora
Desserts / Salads
Although he started working with Anne in 2022 ~ a job that he enjoys very much ~ Grover has been in the food industry for decades. His favorite on the menu: linguini with shrimp: "a little butter, black pepper ~ love that!" Outside of work he coaches soccer, having the credentials to do that: he played soccer in his home country of Bolivia.
Alex Placsencio
Prep Cook / Dishwasher
Alex is from Guayaquil, Ecuador, a port city near the ocean. He loves being at the Yacht Club on Eastchester Bay as it reminds him of his home. Alex's favorite dish is roasted whole red snapper in coconut sauce, but he loves all of the food that we make and the food is his favorite part of the job.
Alejandro Gongora
Front of House
Alejandro is Grover’s son. He loves the Baja steak salad that his dad makes! He lives in Pelham and he loves car racing, drawing, and baking (he makes a delicious churro cheesecake). Alejandro loves the down-to-earth, family environment here at HYC.
Juno Chong
Front of House
Juno has been coming to Harlem Yacht Club since she was a child as her mom, Anne Booth, runs the restaurant. Her favorite foods at the club are the fajitas and the broccoli slaw. An artist at heart she enjoys ceramics, painting, singing and theater. Juno's favorite parts of the club are the sunsets and the camaraderie among the employees.
Ginutis Sipas
Line Cook / Server
Affectionately known as Cheech, he is the jack of all trades at the restaurant as he can work any position there and in outside catering. He has been working with Anne since 2020. He is a young father with his second child on the way, who is very devoted to his growing family.
Henry started working in 2020, helping his mom with deliveries. He loves to stay active by playing volleyball, running track, and most importantly, working! As the youngest on the team, his favorite part of the job is socializing with members who have known him as a baby and bonding with the team.
